Abstract

Since June 2023, the Landschaftsverbände Rheinland (LVR-Institut für Landeskunde und Regionalgeschichte) and Westfalen-Lippe (LWL-Kommission für Mundart- und Namenforschung) have been collecting data on everyday regional language in North Rhine-Westphalia using the PALAVA smartphone app. In the meantime, a customised analysis infrastructure running with R and shiny has been created. This enables secure input of the data processing and low-threshold exploration of the quantitative and spatial distribution of the data. An example analysis also shows that the data not only enables synchronous analyses, but also the observation of recent language change with the help of apparent time-analyses.
